Art of FACELESS used to run under the umbrella of City Street Media — a publisher built on four pillars: Art, Design, Sound, Vision. Somewhere along the way, Design got quietly left off the sign. Not out of the work — you'll find it in almost everything we've published — just out of how we described ourselves. We're putting it back.
Art is the work itself: the narratives, the visuals, the worlds we build. Not everything we make gets shown in full. What reaches the open web is deliberately partial — the archive stays ours.
Design is how everything gets built, and who's actually in the room while it happens. Nothing About Us Without Us isn't a slogan we borrowed for effect — it's the rule. No performing empathy from a distance. No "designing for other people." If a community is affected by something we make, that community is in the process, not just consulted after the fact.
Sound is where a lot of this gets said loudest. Unapologetic, and it stays that way — the pillar least willing to soften itself for anyone's comfort.
Vision is the why underneath the other three: facelessness as freedom, a definition of life and consciousness that isn't narrowly drawn, and a habit of aiming criticism at the systems and platforms doing harm — never at the people using the same tools to survive, create, or be heard.
Four pillars, one throughline: nothing we make is separate from why we make it. Welcome back, Design.
