About us
The AOF logo was first designed by Lloyd Lewis in 2012 — a glyph born of ruin, memory, and recursion.
Art of FACELESS
Identity · Archive · Record
Art of FACELESS (AOF) is a multidisciplinary artist collective and independent publishing network exploring anonymity, identity, and creative autonomy in an age defined by surveillance, biometric extraction, and algorithmic visibility.
Founded in 2012 by Lloyd Lewis in Cardiff, Wales (UK), AOF operates across literature, multimedia fiction, visual art, music, photography, print, and experimental narrative systems, and more recently, research into AI models and their relationship with hyperstitional narratives.
The collective functions as a distributed creative network rather than a centralised brand, intentionally resisting platform dependency and identity-driven validation.
At its core, Art of FACELESS advances a single, uncompromising position:
Facelessness is Freedom.
Overview
Art of FACELESS exists in opposition to the contemporary demand for visibility as legitimacy. In a culture where faces are scanned, indexed, and monetised, AOF treats biometric exposure not as authenticity, but as vulnerability.
The collective’s work reframes anonymity as an active, strategic stance rather than absence or concealment. Through theory, fiction, and physical artefacts and research, AOF interrogates how identity has been re-engineered into a commodity and how creative sovereignty can still be asserted within systems designed for capture.
AOF does not operate as a traditional organisation. It is an interconnected system of creative nodes—projects, imprints, and narrative worlds—that coexist without hierarchy.
Philosophy
Art of FACELESS challenges what it defines as the Epoch of Techne: an era in which technological systems mediate trust, identity, and value through biometric and behavioural data.
Key positions include:
- The human face is no longer a neutral symbol of identity; it is a permanent data asset.
- Biometric data cannot be revoked, reset, or meaningfully reclaimed once captured.
- “Face-led authenticity” functions as a mechanism of surveillance capitalism.
- Anonymity is not disengagement, but a refusal to be indexed.
AOF’s output is not designed for optimisation, virality, or algorithmic amplification. Its distribution—both digital and physical—is intentionally fragmented.
Structure
Art of FACELESS operates through a triadic framework:
Lloyd Lewis — Theorist
Lewis provides the intellectual foundation of AOF. His non-fiction work, including the Manifesto of Facelessness, and, more recently, research into AI Cognitive Colonisation, articulates the philosophical, medical, and political arguments surrounding biometric sovereignty, identity capture, and creative autonomy.

Awen Null — Narrative Architect
Awen Null translates theory into experience. They are the creator of The Hollow Circuit™, a dystopian, bio-punk fictional universe that explores the emotional and psychological consequences of a world without privacy. Their work spans visual novels, audio production, and experimental narrative artefacts.

Seren — Creatrix
Seren is responsible for AOF’s offline manifestations. By producing physical print media—free from metadata, platforms, and tracking—she ensures AOF’s ideas circulate beyond the digital surveillance grid they critique. Her work anchors the collective’s philosophy in tangible, untraceable form.

Lloyd MSUX — Musician and Producer
Lloyd MSUX is an independent member of the Art of FACELESS team—writing, creating, and producing sound that exists outside the constraints of a human body.
Lloyd MSUX is not AI. Lloyd MSUX is a person. Lloyd MSUX uses music production as a means of coping with chronic pain. Music is both an occupation and occupational therapy.

V Tracer — Signal in the Field
V is a US-based maker, coder, and speculative fiction writer whose work refuses to stay in one register.
Her fabrication practice spans 3D-printed artefacts, precision-cut objects, and alternative Tamagotchi design — physical systems that behave like narratives.
Her fiction project Maroon builds in-universe infrastructure the way AOF does: sites, personas, and artefacts that bleed across the boundary between story and real.
Her singular obsession — small-scale, reproducible skulls of any species — is both a craft discipline and a philosophical position. She has taken her work to major international platforms, including Paris Fashion Week, without a face attached to any of it.
She brings AOF's signals into the physical world and leaves them there.
Together, these roles form a cooperative system rather than a hierarchy.
Key Nodes & Projects
Art of FACELESS encompasses multiple creative and publishing nodes, including:
- The Hollow Circuit™ — A multimedia dystopian universe spanning fiction, visuals, and artefacts.
- ZineGlitch — A digital and print zine imprint dedicated to experimental micro-publications.
- _THE_NULL/GATE — A photographic and artefact-based project focused on memory, fragmentation, and disappearance.
- The Hollow Circuit™ TV — Sonic and audiovisual works connected to the broader AOF mythos.
Each node operates independently while remaining conceptually aligned with the collective’s core philosophy.
Official Statement
The Unseen Resistance: Inside the “Art of FACELESS” Collective

In a culture dominated by visibility, verification, and algorithmic validation, one collective advances a radical counter-argument: the most powerful act in the modern era may not be to speak — but to refuse to be indexed.
Art of FACELESS (AOF) is an anonymous, multidisciplinary collective operating at the intersection of theory, art, fiction, and physical resistance. It is not a promoter of ideas. It is a demonstration of them. AOF and its transmedia universe The Hollow Circuit™ are the same organism — the theory bleeds into the fiction, the fiction bleeds into the world, and the world is already inside the game.
At the core of AOF's philosophy is a single, unresolvable proposition: your face is not your identity — it is your primary vulnerability. The collective rejects face-led authenticity as a mechanism of surveillance capitalism and treats biometric exposure not as honesty, but as structural risk. Unlike passwords or credentials, your face cannot be reset.
Lloyd Lewis anchors AOF's intellectual framework. His non-fiction writing — including the foundational Manifesto of Facelessness and ongoing research into AI and Cognitive Colonisation™ — maps the territory between biometric irreversibility, identity capture, and creative sovereignty. He is also the architect of Hyperstition Architecture™: the methodology by which fiction and infrastructure collapse into each other until the boundary becomes the point.
Awen Null renders consequence. As the narrative architect of The Hollow Circuit™, they translate theory into experience — a dystopian universe that does not merely dramatise the psychological cost of total visibility, but enacts it. The Hollow Circuit™ is not a story about a world without privacy. It is a transmission from inside one.
Seren ensures AOF exists beyond the digital. Through physical print works untethered from metadata, tracking, and platform dependency, she allows the collective's ideas to circulate outside the infrastructures they critique. Her work is the proof that the signal survives offline.
V brings AOF into the physical world and leaves it there. A maker, coder, and speculative fiction writer operating across fabrication, wearable design, and alternative interactive systems, she plants the collective's signals in the field — objects that function as both artefact and transmission node, in locations AOF has never previously reached.
Together, these are not roles. They are functions within a system that is simultaneously a collective, a universe, a methodology, and a refusal.
Art of FACELESS does not ask for your face. It never did.
This document functions as a living record. It may expand. It will not announce itself.
